It’s an interesting story — but there seem to be bigger problems here than this woman is letting on. It seems like on both sides, there’s a lack of empathy going on. They say in a relationship, it’s supposed to be a 60/40 split, with each partner trying to care a little extra, aiming for that 60% of effort. You’re supposed to both love your spouse and like them, and yet so many people seem to utterly despise the person they’re spending their one short life with. And in this person’s case, she must like him at least a little bit, because she just had his baby as recently as 2 months ago. But like… why, though? Why have 4 children with a man who won’t even care for your kids when you literally give birth, get sick, or have to undergo surgery? What kind of man can’t take care of his own children while his wife needs help?
I know the internet loves to tell people to leave their spouses, and of course, relationships are far more complex than we know. But I’d urge this woman to consider: if she and the hubby split up and get split custody, they’d both have every other weekend to themselves. Alone. With 0 babies. They could still have a workable relationship, but at least then the husband would be truly forced to reckon with the amount of time and effort he’s putting into parenting the children.
