It’s too bad that the wife thinks this solution isn’t very funny. Instead of complaining about it, maybe she can look at it another way! It’s kind of old-fashioned and cute to have a little critter out there “mowing” your lawn for you. There’s really nothing to be embarrassed about at all. If anything, maybe she and her husband or some friends can gather on the porch with some drinks and snacks and watch their “lawn mower” do its job. I bet it makes quick work of that grassy lawn.
However, I’m curious if the lawn looks good when the goat is through with it, or if the goat does a choppier job than a lawnmower. If you have experience with this kind of thing — which, as a city dweller, I can’t say I do — please, weigh in!
Although the wife doesn’t care for the goat hanging out and eating up her lawn, I’m curious if there are any actual downsides to this choice. Droppings on the lawn, certainly. Maybe the goat needs water to drink, too. But truly, getting your lawn cut for $20 while an animal contentedly gets a tummy full of food is kind of a great idea.
Best of all, this is really sticking it to the HOA, who clearly didn’t think to write this into their rule book! Who knows — maybe this guy and his goat-feeding ways will convince the local HOA members to write a new chapter about just that.
