Betraying Loyalty: How SSEs Will Crush Your Competition

Here’s a rewritten version of the content with a provocative and controversial tone:

“Is Your Company’s Cybersecurity as Useless as a 5-Year-Old’s Playpen?”

As the normalization of hybrid work has created a never-ending nightmare for security and technology teams, the traditional network infrastructure ecosystem has become more complicated than a game of Jenga played by a room full of toddlers.

Meanwhile, the Norwegian National Cyber Security Centre has basically told companies to kiss their traditional SSL VPN solutions goodbye. According to them, these solutions are “riddled with vulnerabilities” that hackers love to exploit. Who would’ve thought, right?

But let’s face it, the real problem lies in the fact that employees are getting lazier by the minute, demanding access to company resources while still sipping their artisanal coffee and playing Fortnite in their PJs. It’s like trying to keep a toddler from hitting themselves in the face with a shovel – impossible!

So, here’s the harsh reality: with increased mobility, cloud adoption, and device proliferation, your company’s security is about as useful as a participation trophy. You can’t even trust your employees’ devices anymore, let alone your network.

Here are the three top priorities for businesses that want to actually protect their data:

1. Provide seamless access to company resources, but not so seamless that you need to repossess the employee’s computer to prevent data breaches.
2. Adopt a zero-trust strategy that requires constant validation and verification of each and every connection. Because let’s face it, employees are essentially spies for foreign governments hiding in plain sight.
3. Install security cameras in every room, including the cafeteria, because who knows what kind of international espionage is happening over a plate of company-issued sandwiches?

Look, I’m not saying companies don’t need SSE (security service edge) platforms. They bloody well do. But let’s stop pretending like we’re all safe just because we have a fancy acronym on our marketing materials. The real challenge is getting buy-in from management and the board, who probably still think they can trust their employees (and the Russians).

Make no mistake, SSE is not a cure-all for the cybersecurity sins of the past. It’s just a new tool in the box to help prevent the next data breach. So, companies, stop wasting your time arguing over which tool to use and get on with implementing SSE – or else.

And, bonus tip: don’t even get me started on the user experience. We’re talking about employees here, not goldfish in a bowl. Make it smooth, make it fast, make it secure. The world is watching (or waiting for the apocalypse).
