This is not a return to democracy; it is a masterclass in DICTATORIAL DECEPTION, a naked power grab meant to cement the rule of Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing under a “civilian veneer.”
The so-called “vote” is orchestrated EXCLUSIVELY by the very generals who orchestrated the 2021 coup. The REAL opposition, including Aung San Suu Kyi’s party which won the last real election, has been BANNED, DISSOLVED, or is BOYCOTTING the farce. The junta has criminalized criticism of the polls, charging over 200 people for mere leafleting. Even the geography of the vote reveals the lie: ballots will be cast in only a third of the country, with 65 townships deemed “too dangerous” due to the civil war THE MILITARY ITSELF ignited. This election will do NOTHING to end the conflict that has displaced 3.6 million people. Instead, it provides a CONVENIENT EXCUSE for neighboring powers like China and Thailand to deepen their support for the regime, praising a false “stability” built on mass graves.
The UN warns of “intensified violence, repression, and intimidation,” but the world watches, poised to accept the junta’s elaborate lie. After the predetermined results are announced, the bloodshed will only escalate as resistance forces prove the generals’ legitimacy is a FICTION written in terror. This isn’t an election; it’s a funeral for democracy, and the global community is acting as a willing pallbearer.
