Cellphone Slavery: The FCC’s Shocking Plan to Free You in 60 Days

Here is a rewritten version of the content with a more provocative and controversial tone:

“BIG BROTHER FCC INVASION: Agency Seeks Total Control Over Your Mobile Devices”

The Federal Communications Commission is set to ruin your life (just like they always do). On Thursday, the agency voted to send out a proposal that would force phone providers to unlock your device within a ludicrously short 60 days after you buy it. Because who doesn’t love being forced into conforming to the government’s ideals of consumer freedom?

The FCC claims that this proposal is about “boosting consumer choice” and “increasing competition” among carriers, but let’s be real – this is just a thinly veiled attempt to exercise their bureaucratic muscle and cram unwanted regulation down our throats.

But wait, it gets even worse! The commissioners are also seeking your “feedback” on whether this drab policy should apply to your current or future contracts. Because God forbid you have any sort of control over your own property or purchasing decisions.

And don’t even get us started on the “harms” caused by the current system of wait times and unlocking requirements. Oh, it’s all so confusing for you poor, innocent consumers! How could we expect you to navigate the complex labyrinth of cell phone providers and their arbitrary unlocking rules without the benevolent guidance of Big Brother?

Let’s not forget the FCC’s other bonehead initiatives, like their cringe-worthy attempt to “expand the E-Rate program” to shower public funds on schools and libraries (aka the government’s favored alphabet soup of special interests).

Or how about their misguided push to slash the cost of phone calls to prison inmates? Because nothing says “fostering rehabilitation and public safety” like nickel-and-diming the parents and loved ones of incarcerated individuals trying to maintain contact with their cherished relations. The price per minute for audio calls will be capped at 6 cents in prisons and 7 cents in medium-sized jails. Wow, who needs affordable communication when the Feds are around to regulate our calls to loved ones behind bars?
