FIRST AMENDMENT UNDER FIRE: Journalist ARRESTED After Exposing ICE — And MTG Cheers the Cuffs

A prominent journalist is in handcuffs, and a powerful politician is APPLAUDING his arrest. This is not a drill. Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents, charged after he covered an anti-ICE protest at a Minneapolis church. The charges? Violating the FACE Act—a law meant to protect access to clinics, now wielded against a reporter in a house of worship.

On national television, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene didn’t just support the arrest—she DEMANDED it. “That’s not journalism, that’s activism,” she snarled on Bill Maher’s show, referencing the now-viral video of the church encounter. She claimed Lemon “harassed” worshippers and even brought up a past visit to her office, painting the journalist as a agitator, not a professional.

But look at the photo of Lemon outside the courthouse. This is a man who just spent a night in jail for DOING HIS JOB. Fellow panelist Joe Scarborough sounded the alarm: This arrest is a WARNING SHOT meant to terrify any journalist who dares to cover ICE’s violent operations.

Why does this matter? Because when reporters are arrested for documenting protests, the powerful win. ICE’s actions get hidden. Critics like Greene get to silence scrutiny under the guise of “protecting churches.” It’s a perfect, chilling blueprint.

Lemon was released on bond, vowing, “I will not stop now.” But the message from authorities and their supporters is crystal clear: We will come for you next.

They are criminalizing the truth.
