15+ Workers who got fired on the spot: ‘New hire strolled in an hour late and was told to leave and not come back’ – FAIL Blog

Bosses don’t look forward to firing their workers, but sometimes there’s no fixing what they’ve broken.

Should you really dress for the job you want, rather than the job you have? Not on your first day, that’s for sure. One teen found that out the hard way when he showed up to work looking very smart in a 3 piece suit. Too bad his actual job was selling paint in his very first job ever. Instead of that snappy suit, he was going to be rocking a regular uniform just like every other employee.

Some workers have that air of entitlement to them when they first start a job — they seem to feel like they’re better than everyone else in the room. It’s almost like they want to establish themselves as the boss for some reason? Like, that advice does not translate to the real world. People have job titles, my guy. You cannot go bossing around people who have the same exact job title as you and who make the same amount as you. Be humble!

Same thing goes for workers who, oddly enough, decide they’re above the rules immediately after hearing them. This seems exceptionally common with phone usage, since a lot of jobs have security or privacy concerns that make phone usage a big risk. And yet it’s so common for workers to be warned, “No phones on the floor!” only to immediately start texting their GF right in front of the boss. Like… why though? Why would you push the boundaries on day one?

Other people showed up with the right attitude, right outfit, and ready to work, but they showed up at the wrong time. For example, there’s the person who arrived an hour late on her first day. Fired! Ugh, that’s such a shame when that happens, because we all know that being late isn’t always your fault, necessarily. Sometimes there’s traffic or transit delays, or your kid can’t find their shoe and now you’re running late looking for it, and so on. Does that matter to the big boss? No, it does not. They don’t care why you’re late because they’re fuming that they had to work on the cash register for an hour while waiting for you to mosey on in.
