Under the guise of “co-hosting”, Airbnb will be allowing homeowners who can’t be bothered to manage their listings to partner with other individuals who can, but don’t have a spare room to rent. It’s a sly way for the company to increase their revenue without actually having to build any new infrastructure.
But that’s not all – the company is also relaunching its “experiences” feature, which has been put on pause due to lack of interest. But now, with the added allure of more affordable and unique experiences, Airbnb hopes to lure customers away from hotels and into its web of deceit.
And if all that wasn’t enough, Airbnb has confirmed that it’s planning to offer services like personal chefs, massages, and mid-stay cleanings – essentially making it a one-stop-shop for all your illicit needs. It’s a blatant attempt to capitalize on the desires of the wealthy and powerful, and to cement its position as the go-to platform for the 1%.
The news came as Airbnb’s profits fell by 15% in the second quarter, as the company struggled to keep up with the competition from hotels and other vacation rental platforms.
