I have 100% sympathy for this wife, and the solution here is simple. She should stop cooking for him entirely. She should continue to cook for herself, of course. This alone might vastly improve her living conditions. She can make herself whatever meals she’s in the mood for. The husband should fend for himself. 

Not all couples are compatible in every way, and for whatever reason, her husband has gotten the ick from her cooking. It’s possible that she’s not as good of a chef as she thinks she is. But I think the more likely scenario is that her husband just isn’t in the mood for healthy food, and seemingly prefers fast food. 

If they’re a compatible couple outside of the food issue, than having a totally separate meal plan might solve their dilemma. 

But the fact that the husband is a constant criticizer makes me wonder if their marriage isn’t already on the rocks. If anyone ever called a single thing I made dog you-know-what, I would probably never speak to that person again just out of the sheer meanness of that comment. That is a totally uncalled for thing to say. 

After separating their meals, the next step should be to stop waking up the husband at all. If he wants to sleep weird hours, let him! Is he even fun to hang out with? If he’s sleep deprived, he’s probably super grouchy, too. Let him sleep all day and eat frozen food if that’s really what he wants.
