Now, there are several possibilities that could explain why this employer thought this conversation had not taken place. There is always the possibility that she has some sort of amnesia. I kid, of course, as it’s difficult to find any justification for why she thought she could walk back her employee’s promotion.Â
After all, it sounds like he was already stepping into this more substantial role at the company and doing all this extra work. The fact that she would have the audacity to pretend she never gave him a raise is one thing. The fact that she did so after the raise had been approved by HR and after he had already been working in this new role is another thing.
Again, the only possible explanation that could justify her reasoning here is if she lost her mind. Why else would she risk her own integrity? And why would she lie in such a manner, knowing full well that HR processes all raises and promotions with thorough documentation of their own? Hopefully, this lady’s complete swing and a miss here will humble her moving forward.
