I know people who act like this about food (my ex mother-in-law, lol), it might sound ridiculous to anyone who hasn’t experienced it, but after two or three times throwing the food in the trash or rejecting it first-hand, it becomes utterly exhausting. I think the cooking sister has good intentions; that’s obvious. Perhaps it is one of the only ways she knows how to show affection, and watching people actually enjoy what she cooks might be part of the alchemy. I do believe that at certain ages, some people become very rigid in their behaviour, and there is not much you can do about it. Of course, I tried telling my mother-in-law I didn’t want so much food or that I wasn’t hungry or that I was on a diet, and she wouldn’t listen. Sometimes, there is also an element of ‘I know best’ at play. In my case, the food was delicious, though, and if I didn’t want it, I could gift it to my friends or something like that.
