Have you ever had a boss who made you want to buy them a “world’s worst boss” mug?
Surely, we all had a few of those. Some bosses make it their personal mission to create the most hostile workplace environment for their employees, just because they enjoy the power they get to hold over others. Instead of using their influence for good, to actually create a safe space for people, a kind of office where workers truly enjoy arriving every morning, they do the exact opposite. Mainly because they know they can get away with it, because who in their right mind will risk their job to stand up to the boss?
I’ll tell you who, brave people like the employee who shared the story below. This employee bore witness to some awful behavior by their boss and decided to stand up to her. They had to watch as one employee after another had to quit because of her, while no one else dared to stop her. She constantly targeted employees she knew had no leverage on her, who wouldn’t be able to make her stop, while anyone above her stayed out of it, time after time.
Only one employee was brave enough to push back, but to no avail; the situation remains the same.
Honestly, I wouldn’t blame anyone who decides to quit when dealing with this kind of boss every single day, but quitting is giving her exactly what she wants. She gets to keep her job while chasing others away, and maybe it is time to put a stop to it all. To stand up to the problem and chase her away for good.
