A recent investigation by The New York Times has exposed the ruthless tactics employed by YouTube sensation MrBeast and his team during the filming of the Beast Games competition show. But what’s even more appalling is that the organizers seemed to deliberately neglect the well-being of contestants, leaving them to suffer without even the most basic necessities, including food and medication.

In a shocking report, over a dozen contestants came forward to share their nightmarish experiences, including tales of being denied essential medication and being treated like cattle. One contestant described being given half a banana after requesting food, only to be told by staff members that she didn’t actually need to eat. This is not the kind of ‘game’ we want our entertainment to be built on.

But the truth is, MrBeast isn’t sorry – not yet, at least. And in a bizarre move, he chose not to comment on the allegations directly, instead relying on his team to blame external factors, including a mysterious ‘CrowdStrike incident’ and ‘extreme weather.’ Meanwhile, the real victims – the contestants – are left to pick up the pieces and wonder how they were left so vulnerable in the first place. Will we ever see a real apology from MrBeast and his team? The answer remains to be seen.

In the meantime, the Beast Games, now an Amazon Prime Video series, will continue to air without a hint of remorse from MrBeast or his team. It’s up to us to hold them accountable for their actions and ensure that we, as consumers, don’t enable the kind of exploitation and neglect we saw in the Beast Games. Let’s take a closer look at the kind of games we want to play – and the kind of people we want to reward with our clicks and attention.
