Obviously, I believe the real problem upper management had with him giving his team the day off was the feeling that they were being walked all over. Ok, fair enough, he should’ve let them know, but if they really cared about the work that was done, they would’ve warned him about that and moved on with their lives. Obviously, the office snacks are not upper management’s real concern. I can only advise this manager to try to be more condescending from now on, and that’s it; I don’t really think there’s anything more serious going on, only very fragile egos at play.
