Correct me if I’m wrong, but picky eaters, just like children, most of the time can’t tell if there are onions or garlic in a sauce if you don’t specifically tell them, especially if they like it. I’m sure the boyfriend in this story eats plenty of packaged food containing garlic, only he doesn’t know it. Again, garlic is IN EVERYTHING, guys. This is why we have to teach young children to open themselves up to new experiences and new flavours. Sharing meals is about connecting, and if you are too rigid or picky about it, it speaks to an underlying bigger rigidity. Again, this isn’t about him not liking something; it’s more about the attitude he displays around it.
