I’ve embarked on my fair share of opener shifts. As a morning person, the early pace suits me and actually plays in favor of my circadian rhythm. However, as a result of my early birdliness, I’ve also seen my fair share of night owls who have left me hanging. When a morning shift requires two employees to open the business’s doors, beginning the day with a short-staffed shift is not a terrific start for anyone, especially the single, solo worker left to do the work of two employees. 

Frankly, if you’re the opening shift guy who let down your coworker and showed up hours late, you’d better arrive begging for forgiveness. 

The late riser didn’t apologize; instead, he insisted his colleague risk their job and lie to management to cover for him.
