When you work from home, one of the biggest perks is that you get to wear whatever you want to work.
Pajamas and sweatpants become your best friend, and shoes are very much a forgotten concept; that is one of the biggest beauties of working from home. You save so much time on trying to decide what to wear every day, get to stay as comfortable as possible through your 8-hour workday, and let’s not forget all the money you save by not needing to buy appropriate office attire. Such a great perk.
But is it the best perk? If your workplace decided to start implementing a business dress code for remote employees, would that have been a deal breaker?
It might be for the employee who shared the story below on r/jobs, but many people disagree. Working fully remotely has a lot of benefits, and people would gladly give up on their sweatpants if it means they can wake up at 8:55 AM and start working at 9:00 AM. Obviously, if you like working from home, putting on a blouse shouldn’t change that. It is a very minor sacrifice for the ability to work from your bed.
Not to mention that there is a limit to how a workplace can enforce a dress code for remote employees. The only way they can know what their employees are wearing is through video calls, which means that as long as a remote employee is not actively sitting in a meeting, they can wear whatever they want in between.
