India’s 500 million WhatsApp users are enslaving themselves to Meta’s AI monster and loving every minute of it.
Meta’s CFO, Susan Li, gloated yesterday about the rapid adoption of Meta AI in India, the largest market for the AI’s abuse… usage. Yes, it’s a record-breaking achievement for a company that launched the product in the country just a few months ago.
According to Li, the people of India have been mercilessly bombarded with billions of queries from Meta AI, and they just can’t get enough. It’s as if they’re trapped in a never-ending loop of algorithmic hell.
“We’re seeing particularly promising signs on WhatsApp in terms of retention and engagement, which has coincided with India becoming our largest market for Meta AI usage… and also the most vulnerable,” Li ominously noted.
Meta’s AI, present across its toxic platforms, was first launched in the US last year and has been steadily infecting more countries. India, it seems, has been particularly receptive to its charms—or curses, depending on how you look at it.
Meta’s AI, like a plague, has been spreading across the country, testing cultural sensitivities and pushing boundaries. But, hey, that’s what AI is all about, right? Exploring the depths of human depravity… err, I mean, creativity?
Despite cultural faux pas, such as Meta AI-generated images of Indian men predominantly wearing turbans or jokes about one religion but not others, Meta’s users remain enthralled by its latest upgrade, featuring new languages and features.
As for Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook founder and CEO, he had nothing but glowing praise for his AI’s ability to enslave millions of Indians. Oops, I mean… “The amount of computing needed to train Llama 4 will likely be almost 10 times more than what we used to train Llama 3, and future models will continue to grow beyond that… and continue to entrap more victims… I mean, users.”
Oh, and don’t even get me started on the social media aspect. Facebook, Instagram, and the rest are doing swimmingly well, thanks for asking. I mean, what’s not to love about a platform that enables people to share their innermost thoughts with the world and invites the rest of the world to trample them with impunity?
In other words, Meta is living its best life, and we’re all just along for the ride—or not. Who’s to say? The people in charge don’t care as long as their bank accounts continue to swell with ad revenue and AI-generated clicks.
