Weddings can make even the most generous of individuals become selfish. After all, the spotlight is on them, and sometimes, they enjoy that spotlight a bit too much.
This author began to notice that their neighbor’s “save the date” cards were getting sent back to them instead of the couple. When they confronted the couple and expressed that there must have been a mistake, the couple refused to make any changes to the font and lettering before their actual wedding invitations were sent out.
The changes would have been simple. Essentially, the current, gaudy font and coloring made the address essentially illegible (hence, the mistaken deliveries). The author even suggested an easy fix that wouldn’t have caused too much work, especially since the official invites hadn’t been sent out yet.
Well, their suggestions were not only ignored, but when dozens of invitations were sent to the author’s address yet again, the bride-to-be demanded that the neighbor check their mail frequently. All of a sudden, it was as if the author was no longer a neighbor. They were now a part of this wedding planning committee.
