Okay, so it’s not a ton of wood out there, but it’s enough to be unsettling. 

This seems like it’s almost a petty stack of planks: not enough to do anything with, but just enough to be totally annoying until you take care of things. But not everyone has the spare hours on their weekends to stack up planks and take them to the dump. In fact, most people don’t even have a car big enough to transport 10ft pieces of wood, let alone the upholstery that can handle being poked and scraped by rusty nails. Sorry, neighbor, this project was yours and yours alone, and she never wanted to be a part of it in any capacity.
