Behold! Here I am, free from the shackles of the retailsphere. After years of paying my due diligence to the world of retail, I finally broke free of the chains of overly-repeated playlists, curt disingenuous smiles, and the backbreaking company uniform mandating high heels on the sales floor. Working in a department store that sold fancy clothes taught me a lot about customers and coworkers, but mostly about people. It seems that when folks are painfully aware of a personal deficiency, they’ll do just about anything to cover it up, even if that means being distractingly cruel to those around them.

I had my fair share of Garys in the past, and this retail employee says the words we all wish we could, spouting the mentally rehearsed disses that we playback in our heads on our way home from a long shift. It feels good to tell off a bad manager, especially when they completely, 100% deserve it.
