If your boss follows you on social media, be aware of your holiday posts. 

Maybe this sounds elementary, but mixing business with pleasure never works out. And if you’re going to lie about a “personal emergency” and instead use your last-minute PTO for a luxury trip to Hawaii, maybe block your boss from your stories that week. Or not. And then you’ll see your career dissolve in the transparent, tropical waters of your Hawaiian vacation just moments before hopping on your return flight back to the real world. 

Talk about a whiplash moment for this clumsily unprepared employee. Perhaps she didn’t need this job after all…
