BREAKING: SpaceX’s Latest Cash Grab Revealed – Starlink Mini Hits the Market
SpaceX has unleashed a new, more portable version of its satellite internet product, dubbed Starlink Mini, and it’s coming at a steep price tag of $599 – a whopping $100 more than the standard kit. Yes, you read that right. Early customers were "lucky" enough to snag this "portable" package, but we all know what that means: more money for Elon’s wallet.
The so-called "portable" Starlink Mini kit is small enough to fit inside a backpack, but at what cost? According to SpaceX, it’s not just the price tag that’s steep – the data is capped at a paltry 50 gigabytes per month, and that’ll set you back an additional $30 per month. Want to bundle it with your existing service plan? Good luck with that, as it’ll now cost you a whopping $150 per month. Oh, and don’t even get us started on the lack of a standalone Mini Roam plan.
But don’t worry, SpaceX has promised to "reduce the price" of the kit at some point in the future. Because we all know that promises are like rainbows – they’re fleeting and only meant to distract us from the real issue at hand: the astronomical prices SpaceX is charging for its satellite internet.
The "incredible" 2.5-pound antenna may be small, but its impact on your wallet is anything but. And with max download speeds of over 100 Mbps, you’ll be begging for more data, which just so happens to be what SpaceX is counting on. After all, as CEO Elon Musk so wisely said, the Mini could be a "great low-cost option for a good backup Internet connection if your landline goes out." Low-cost? Ha! More like low-blow.
With over 6,000 satellites already in orbit and a whopping 3 million customers across 100 countries, SpaceX has clearly got the market cornered – and they know it. But do we really need another overpriced, overhyped satellite internet product? The answer, much like the price tag, is a resounding "yes" from SpaceX.
