I really hope that this kid does a few things. First, she may still be able to salvage the dress. Silk is notoriously hard to clean, unfortunately. But by taking the dress to a reputable laundromat and getting a consultation about her options, she could possibly salvage the look. At the very least, the dry cleaning professionals could tell her honestly if the dress is able to be saved or not. And although it might cost her, if she told the dry cleaner her story, they might feel for her, and give her a discount. 

Secondly, I hope she starts hiding her valuables from her sister — and planning a way out for herself once she turns 18! This living situation doesn’t seem to be making her happy, so why stay if she can find somewhere else where she’s actually appreciated? 

And thirdly, I hope she plans a separate, friends-only birthday event, just for herself and her friends. No sisters or parents allowed! In this case, tempting as it may be to gloat about it, it would be wise to avoid telling any family members until the big day is over. They just seem super petty, so why risk them showing up or otherwise ruining the good vibes? 

Let’s hope that this teen gives us an update when things cool down… Although I imagine her and Bella will be having a frosty relationship for a while. Bella may think this is just her sister having an overblown reaction, but whenever you hurt someone you love, there are going to be long-lasting consequences. It’s about way more than a dress! And she’ll have a lot of learning and growing to do before she actually understands how badly she messed up here.
