‘They’ve triggered the petty in me, and it’s now a win-win!’: Rural North Carolina neighbor treats homeowner’s private lot as free parking and dumping ground for years, so he installs cameras, gets cars towed – FAIL Blog

Politely asking someone to stop doing something they clearly enjoy doing is like asking a seagull to stop stealing fries. You can gesture, you can yell, you can even write a strongly worded note, and the seagull just tilts its head and grabs another fry mid-sentence. Except this seagull has a landscaping crew and a lawyer on retainer.

Bringing lawyers into a dispute about parking spots is the human equivalent of calling in an airstrike to deal with a raccoon problem. Technically impressive, wildly disproportionate, and somehow the raccoon still wins because nobody actually changes their behavior, they just get more expensive at ignoring you.

This is where trail cameras become the best invention since spite itself. Nothing says “I’ve evolved past asking nicely” like quietly filming your enemies committing crimes in real time and waiting for karma to show up with a tow hook. It’s true crime, except the criminal is your neighbor’s Subaru and the true crime podcast host is you, alone, at 2am, refreshing footage like it’s a Netflix drop.

The gravel move is basically the property-line equivalent of taking back the Wi-Fi password after a breakup. Sure, everyone’s worse off, sure, it’s a little dramatic, but there’s something deeply satisfying about watching entitlement collide with consequences shaped like a giant mud puddle. Convenience is a privilege, not a right, and nothing teaches that lesson faster than watching your free parking spot turn into a swamp overnight.

Some feuds get resolved with a fence. This one’s getting resolved with a tow truck, a night-vision camera, and a driveway upgrade paid for entirely in gravel that used to belong to people who never once said thank you.
