People love to build up celebrities, and then, once they’re thriving, they can’t wait to tear them down. It’s a tale as old as time, but social media really exacerbates this. Fans express their love for celebs while they’re underdogs, but as soon as they become mainstream or successful, they become a joke. Being a very rich person in a world where a lot of people are barely making ends meet certainly doesn’t help. Chalamet’s extremely wealthy partner is Kylie Jenner, whom he is frequently seen with on the red carpet. He is no longer a scrappy underdog actor just getting started in his career, he’s made it. The transition into superstardom isn’t easy for any person to navigate, and I can’t imagine what it must be like to have the world watching your every move.
Hindsight is 20/20. There’s no way that Chalamet, or Taylor Swift, or Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, could’ve known that they were overstaying their time in the spotlight. At least for Grande and Erivo, their Wicked franchise has come to a close. And Swift does seem to be taking a vacation from the music spotlight.
