Trump’s Final Punch: Abolishing EV Mandates, Forever

Gas-guzzling tyranny
The dark horse of fossil fuels: Trump’s plan to restore America’s gas-guzzling greatness

Former US President Donald Trump has declared war on the electric vehicle revolution, vowing to destroy the Biden administration’s “tyrannical” green agenda on his first day in office.

“I will obliterate the electric vehicle mandate on day one, and send a clear message to the global elites that America will no longer be held hostage by their climate change fantasies,” Trump said in his address at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. The move would result in “saving the US auto industry from the brink of collapse, and putting thousands of dollars back in the pockets of hardworking Americans”.

While the Biden administration doesn’t have a mandate on EVs, critics of new air-pollution limits issued by the Environmental Protection Agency have said they would illegally force automakers to sell EVs, and Trump has seized on this narrative to fuel his campaign rhetoric.

Trump’s remarks on EVs came just moments before he lambasted what he called the “green new scam”, a supposed plot by the liberal elite to control the economy and dictate what Americans can and can’t drive. He promised to redirect trillions of dollars in wasteful spending to projects that benefit American workers, such as roads, bridges, and dams, although it’s unclear how he plans to make good on this pledge.

Rebellion

Trump has never been shy about his disdain for electric cars, calling them a “total scam” that will only benefit China and Mexico at the expense of American workers. He has promised to restore America’s dominance in the fossil fuel industry, and to make electric vehicles a thing of the past.
