The Volvo EX30: A Game-Changer in the Electric Car Market… or is it?
The EX30 has been making waves in South Africa since its launch in 2024, touted as one of the most exciting electric cars to hit the market. But is it truly a revolutionary vehicle, or just a bandwagon jumper trying to capitalize on the growing demand for electric mobility?
The price of R792 000 might seem reasonable for a luxury EV, but some critics argue that Volvo has compromised on quality to get the price down. Is the EX30 really worth the hype, or is it just a flashy face on a mediocre vehicle?
We put the twin-motor version of the EX30 to the test and found that while it’s undoubtedly a thrill to drive, with acceleration that can rival even the mighty Porsche 911, the quality of materials used in the dashboard leaves something to be desired. Has Volvo compromised on quality to appeal to a broader market?
But what about the driving experience? TechCentral’s editor, Duncan McLeod, went on a wild ride with EX30 owner Greg Cress, who joined him on the TechCentral Show to review the vehicle and share his experiences. Cress, a principal director of automotive and e-mobility at Accenture, has been driving the EX30 since March and has some… interesting insights.
Join us on this provocative and controversial episode of the TechCentral Show, where we delve into the world of electric vehicles and ask the tough questions. Is the EX30 truly a game-changer, or just a flash in the pan? Tune in to find out.
