What’s even more frustrating here is that the woman’s mother somehow took the brother’s side, as if he didn’t deserve to experience the consequences of his words and actions. We’re of the opinion that if this man doesn’t value the free labor his younger sister has been doing for him as a favor (on top of her already packed schedule), then he shouldn’t benefit from that work.
This woman’s mother needs to rethink her priorities. Sure, having young kids can be hard work, and parents need all the help they can get. However, that should not come at the expense of decency for those who are willing to step up and take care of those kids. It should also not come at the expense of non-parents whose schedules are also jam-packed. This woman may only be a student, but that doesn’t negate the fact that she has a lot going on, too. Her brother’s need for her help does not overpower the sister’s need for a base level of respect.
