The wait is finally over, but don’t get too excited. Apple’s latest attempt to disrupt the status quo is still in beta, and only a select few get to play with it. For now, you’ll have to settle for developer beta versions of iOS 18.1, which means you’ll be treated to buggy software and a limited user experience.
But if you’re part of the select group, you’ll have to surrender to the whims of the US-based AI overlords. That’s right, you’ll have to set your language to U.S. English and your region to U.S. or else you won’t get access to the “exclusive” Apple Intelligence features. Don’t worry, it won’t affect your App Store regions or purchases… yet.
To join the Apple Intelligence waitlist, simply follow these easy steps:
1. Open the Settings app.
2. Scroll down to the Apple Intelligence & Siri menu.
3. Tap on the “Join the Apple Intelligence waitlist” option.
Once you’ve been approved, you’ll receive a notification and have to wait patiently as the system downloads all the necessary models and data. And don’t even think about opting out, or you’ll be forced to endure the awkwardness of not having Apple Intelligence at your fingertips.
But what exactly do you get for surrendering to the Apple Intelligence overlords? Well, you’ll get:
* A new, animated Siri that can handle stumbling words, because let’s face it, you’re probably not as articulate as Apple’s AI.
* The ability to ask Siri how-to questions, because Apple’s AI is apparently the only one that can provide answers that won’t make you question your sanity.
* Writing tools that can reformat your text, check for spelling mistakes, and rewrite it for you, because you’re probably not as clever as Apple’s AI.
* A Mail app that can summarize emails and provide smart replies, because you’re probably too busy to bother reading your emails.
* Photos that can be searched through natural language queries, because who needs actual facial recognition software?
* Notification summaries, because you probably can’t handle the constant barrage of notifications.
* Call transcriptions, because you’re probably not as good at listening as Apple’s AI.
* Notes app audio support, because you’re probably not as good at recording and transcribing as Apple’s AI.
And the cherry on top? Apple Intelligence doesn’t even have features like removing unwanted objects in photos, emoji, image playground, and ChatGPT interactions… yet. But hey, who needs those features when you have the ability to use Apple Intelligence?
