When we feel rejected by someone, oftentimes, our first thought is that there is something wrong with us. In her case, she thought it was because she was being a bad friend. Consciously trying to become a better friend can never be a bad thing,  I would advise her to, first, hold space for the idea that multiple friends cancelling on her last minute might be a simple coincidence, and if it’s not, it might also mean she could benefit from finding friends that align more naturally with her life; not because there’s anything wrong with them or with her, but maybe because they are not that connected right now. Sometimes stepping away from an issue gives us better perspective. Just like when we are grieving a relationship, starting a new hobby or doing something different might take our lives in a fresh, exciting direction, and we might find ourselves naturally bumping into what we once were so desperate to force.
