Through things like this, you see the classical double standards: somebody who seems reluctant to spend any money on a friend expects you to spend thousands of dollars on them. I do agree this is all very avoidable, and that she can say no; of course it’s not an easy thing to do, but nobody said it was easy; they said it was the solution- that’s all. Honestly, I feel the same way. If she can’t or doesn’t want to participate, she should say no; if she is going to do it and complain till the very end, it’s up to her.
