THE US NAVY IS SPLITTING APART. While China builds warships and Russia mobilizes, top brass are under fire for celebrating a SINGLE sailor’s gender identity—and the battle is exploding into open war.
Admiral Michael Gilday, the Navy’s top officer, stood before Congress and declared he was “particularly proud” of LTJG Audrey Knutson, a non-binary sailor featured in a Navy Instagram video. The clip, with nearly 17,000 likes, showed Knutson saying they were proud to serve, especially because their grandfather was a gay sailor ostracized in WWII.
BUT SENATORS ARE FURIOUS. Marco Rubio blasted the video online, sneering, “While China prepares for war, this is what they have our US Navy focused on.” Tommy Tuberville attacked it in a hearing, saying he had “a lot of problems with this.” They claim this “wokeness” is CRIPPLING our military.
Yet the Admiral DEFENDED it aggressively. He stated building a “cohesive warfighting team” requires “dignity and respect.” He argued if someone is willing to take the oath and risk their life, he’s proud to serve beside them. The Navy confirmed Knutson uses non-binary pronouns, though Gilday used “she.”
WHO BENEFITS FROM THIS FIGHT? Republican lawmakers pushing a culture war narrative, despite their own survey showing only 5% of potential recruits care about “wokeness.” They mock efforts at inclusion while our rivals watch the division spread. One GOP congressman even jeered, “We absolutely 150% can out-pronoun every single one of our adversaries.”
The military insists its focus is on combat: 165 hours of rifle training versus ONE hour of equal opportunity instruction. But the public fury is all about that one hour. The trust our commanders need to build a lethal force is being sacrificed on the altar of political warfare.
As our enemies grow stronger, our leaders are more focused on attacking each other than the threats outside our borders. The next war may be lost before the first shot is fired—not on the battlefield, but in a committee room.
