You can’t eat your cake and have it too, especially not if your cake is a hotel room.

We’ve all probably found ourselves staying a night at a hotel that did not deserve our hard-earned money. You see the pictures online and former guests’ reviews, thinking it will be fine, but once you get there, you realize just how different the place looks in person. But by then, you’re already there, you’ve given them your money, so you might as well stay the night. After your stay, you might leave a bad review or warn others that the hotel isn’t worth the money, but that is as far as most people would go. They accept that the money they paid for the stay is gone, and they make the most of what they got in return.

Other people might not be as accepting. Every hotel has seen its fair share of guests who refuse to pay for their booking because the hotel does not live up to their expectations. Some get what they want, leave the hotel with their money in their pockets, and go off to search for a different place to spend the night, while others are told by the front desk that it’s a little too late to get their money back, and they can choose where to go from there.

Asking for a refund for a hotel room you have already used might be pushing it too far, and the employee below would agree. If you spend the night without a complaint, why should you get your money back at the end of the day?

When the guest in the story below approached the front desk, she had a mission in mind: get a refund for the three nights she booked at the hotel. However, she had already spent one night there, and she decided to check out well into the second day, which only left her with one night that the hotel was able to refund her for.

Was that enough for her? Scroll down to find out.
