GRAND THEFT AUTO: SAN ANDREAS’ VR DEATH KNELL SOUNDED AS META DITCHES PROJECT INDEFINITELY
In a devastating blow to gamers and VR enthusiasts, Meta has confirmed that the Quest version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is on permanent hold, effectively canceling the project. The news was confirmed to IGN and a YouTube video comment, where the Meta Quest VR account shamelessly admitted that they’re putting their efforts into other projects.
But don’t expect any answers or explanations from Meta or Rockstar Games, as they’ve remained eerily silent on the matter. It seems they’re too busy licking their wounds and trying to salvage what’s left of their reputations.
FROM HYPE TO DESPAIR
Remember when Meta and Rockstar announced this ambitious project in October 2021? It was supposed to be a revolutionary experience that would allow players to explore the iconic open world of San Andreas in a whole new way. But now, it seems like we’ll never get to experience it at all.
The lack of any significant updates or progress on the project in nearly three years should have been a major red flag. And yet, Meta continued to string along fans with empty promises and vague updates. It’s clear now that they never had any intention of delivering on their promises.
WHAT WENT WRONG?
The lack of transparency and communication from both Meta and Rockstar Games has left fans feeling frustrated and betrayed. It’s clear that they’ve abandoned this project and are instead focused on other, more lucrative ventures.
Will we ever see a VR version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas again? Don’t hold your breath. The die has been cast, and it seems that this project is destined for the digital dumpster.
