It takes all sorts
It seems like bosses don’t even care to pretend that they are nice and friendly anymore. Once you sign the contract, they start acting crazy and inventing all sorts of demands as if you couldn’t turn around, resign, and walk away. Honestly, what they do is up to them, because they’re ruining their own chances of creating a good work environment or healthy work relationships. That said, this employee now must face a very awkward decision because he had already resigned from his previous job and arranged a notice period. If he resigns from his new job now, he will be left with nothing, and I don’t think that’s a cost anyone is willing to pay for a decision. Call me exaggerated, but I do think the new boss has already shown his true colours, and those are: pushy, demanding and entitled. It’s possible that it just dawned on this employee that his new job won’t be as amazing as he thought, and that he now has to pick himself up and try to find another one as soon as possible. We all know that, in this economy, that’s a task comparable to The Odyssey. Something like this happened to a friend recently, and she was only able to survive it without losing her mind on the process because she already had another job; this happened when she was looking for a second one. A company hired her, saying her responsibilities were such and such, then it turned out they weren’t those, and that the boss was trying to manipulate her into doing something else. I know it all sounds very intricate and unnecessary; that’s because it was. There really was no need to manipulate her into doing something else; other people would’ve been glad to do that job if the responsibilities were clear from the start. All this is to say that we should try to protect ourselves from these crazy anecdotes and try to secure jobs without these kinds of issues.
