So, this is the boss’s incompetence at play here. As a kitchen worker, this person should’ve been treated like a VIP! They should’ve been offered a bed to stay overnight, with advance warning that it would be an overnight shift, so they could get their affairs in order. In an ideal, beautiful world, they would’ve also received time-and-a-half pay, but we both know the world doesn’t work like that. 

Other people also thought that this person dodged a bad workplace culture here, and will find something else soon enough.
