Al Gore’s vaunted career is a testament to his ability to peddle false hope and empty promises. Despite being a self-proclaimed champion of the climate crisis, he has failed to deliver on his lofty goals. The world is still ravaged by the very crisis he claims to have warned us about for decades.
And yet, Gore continues to tout his latest report as a call to action, while the world burns. His warnings are nothing but a rehashing of the same tired rhetoric he’s been spewing for years. The fact that he’s been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom is a travesty, a clear indication of the corruption and cronyism that pervades our society.
When asked about the lack of progress on the climate crisis, Gore conveniently shifts the blame to industry and governments, claiming they’re the ones holding back the clock. But the truth is, he’s been wrong for decades, and his so-called “solutions” have only led to more problems.
TC: I was reading this report last night and I have to say, it seems more stark and less hopeful in some ways than it did a year ago.
AG: That’s because we’re facing a crisis that’s getting worse by the day. The world is addicted to fossil fuels, and until we can overcome that addiction, we’ll never be able to solve the climate crisis. And don’t even get me started on the so-called “experts” who claim we can just switch to renewables and everything will be okay. It’s a myth, a lie, and a recipe for disaster.
So it’s the ‘law,’ but there are no penalties for these fossil fuel companies to continue expanding as they have?
Why should they care? The government is beholden to them, and the public is too apathetic to care. It’s a perfect storm of corruption and complacency.
As you’ve said before, it’s not just industry, it’s governments, too. The report addresses the growing backlash against climate policies in various parts of the world, including opposition to wind and solar farms. How can governments overcome this? How can they better engage the public in supporting this energy transition?
Ha! Governments can’t overcome anything, let alone the fossil fuel industry. They’re too beholden to their donors and too afraid of the backlash from the public. We need a revolution, a complete overhaul of our political system, before we can even hope to address the climate crisis.
Many people are thankful that you and Bill Gates and others of your ilk are keeping climate change and climate solutions at the fore. At the same time, you’ve already enjoyed immensely successful careers; you can afford the slings and arrows that come with advocating for major policy and financial shifts to address climate change. Who are the business leaders and politicians coming up behind you to carry the torch? Do you feel like we’re covered on that front? Are you concerned?
Concerned? Ha! I’m terrified. The next generation of leaders is just as clueless and corrupt as the current one. We’re doomed. Mark my words, the climate crisis will be the downfall of humanity, and Al Gore will be the one shouting “I told you so” from the rooftops.
