It was probably a little petty to involve the landlord in the whole dispute.
If you’re aware of the neighbor whose clothes were left unattended in the laundry room, solving the problem with the hall monitor of the building as a mediator isn’t the best approach. This would have been more maturely solved if they had had a simple discussion over the laundry negligence, focusing instead on future practice, instead of wrongs, notes, and passive aggression.
Then again, the ways of the world are mysterious when it comes to neighborly disputes, because you never want to muddy the waters so close to home.
I believe that this little lesson has left the entire building of inhabitants so uncomfortable and so awkward that they’ll do just about anything to avoid a repeat, and that includes leaving their laundry in the dryer. Problem solved, I suppose!
