At least Daniel tried to make amends. He showed up with a muffin and offered to split the internet bill, which suggests he may have realized he had crossed a line. 

But that ignores the fact that he had been using someone else’s WiFi without permission, and even after knowing it was a boundary, he kept attempting to access it anyway. In Daniel’s mind, paying for half the service from that moment on would fix everything.
